Professional Training Courses
Training for a Diploma in Manipulation
There is an opportunity to train in the manipulation of the “musculoskeletal system and associated viscera” at the A229 Medway Osteopathic Clinic.
The course extends over a 20 month period with attendance of 6 hourly practical sessions taking place once per calendar month throughout this time.
This is the period known as the “taught course” which satisfies the 99 hour requirement of a healthcare Diploma. The extra time of the continuous assessment training will be devoted to a certificate in foot and nail care or massage.
At the same time the students will have password protected access to a vBulletin website where they can have asynchronous access to each others thoughts as they study as well as contact guest lecturers and do coursework all online.
Some sessions will be attended by qualified Osteopaths and Osteomyologists keen to work with students. Although not part of the teaching group any such practitioners will also be invited to join in online throughout the training course period.
There will be a fee of £120 per attended day and a minimum of 99 hours attendance is necessary to be awarded the diploma. Certificates of attendance are available for those already qualified to support your CPD evidence.
Those completing the diploma course satisfactorily will be invited to join the Association of Osteomyologists and be entitled to apply for practice insurance.
The Piggyback Course
The 20 month course starting in September this year will be open to postgraduates of all fields osteomyological and to students of structural and visceral manipulation working to become Osteomyologists.
The attended course takes place for 6 hours, one Sunday each month at a fee of £120 per Sunday (bring your own lunch or we can eat out).
The on-line part of the course takes place on a passworded vBulletin forum, passwords being provided to both postgrad attenders so they may continue to interact with the students, as guest lectures and as fellow travellers, and to the student osteomyologists so they can interact with each other as they progress through the coursework and to provide a Common Room function and on-line Library.
This also provides a record of study.
All participants will receive a CD containing copies of Out- of -Copyright Osteopathic textbooks.
On-line study will be encouraged throughout the 20 month course but each module is a refresher and hopefully a different look at each viscera and body region in terms of Clinical practice. As such each attended day for Practitioners is Certificated as a 6 hour CPD unit.
Attended sessions take place at the Medway Osteopathic Clinic, Rochester, Kent
Dates are decided on a monthly basis
